Key Takeaways

  1. Kite writes new Contentful entries, such as blog posts, landing-page sections, and FAQs, and publishes them. It can also save them as drafts for your editors to finish.
  2. On a website you've imported into Kite, Kite changes the copy on a specific page by editing the Contentful entry behind it. It then publishes the entry and reads it back to confirm the new text is the published version.
  3. Kite uploads and publishes images, schedules entries to go live or come down at a set time, groups launch content into releases, and writes the field values for each language your space supports.
  4. You connect by signing in to Contentful and approving Kite's access. A Contentful account is required, and Kite works within the spaces and permissions that account has.

How can an AI marketing agent use Contentful for marketing?

Contentful is a headless content management system. It stores your marketing content as structured entries, such as blog posts, landing-page sections, product descriptions, and FAQs, and your website's code pulls those entries in to build each page. An AI marketing agent uses Contentful the way a content marketer on your team would. It reads what's already there, decides what should change, writes the copy into the right entry and field, and publishes it. Kite does that work through your connected Contentful account, from a one-line headline fix to a coordinated product launch. It uses your analytics and AI-visibility data to decide which content is worth changing first.

Marketing jobs Kite can do with Contentful

Kite's Contentful work follows your content from what's live today to what publishes next. It reads your entries and your content model, writes and publishes new content, and changes the copy on pages that are already live. It also handles the images, schedules, languages, and review steps that surround that content.

Read what your Contentful content says today

Kite reads your Contentful space the way a good editor would before changing anything. It lists the content types your site is built from, such as a blog post, a landing page, or a pricing card, and reads the entries inside each one. That includes drafts nobody has published yet and the field values for every language. Kite can also see which entries link to a given entry, and it can look back through an entry's earlier versions.

That reading is how Kite finds the work. Say your AI-visibility check shows ChatGPT recommending a competitor when buyers ask for the best invoicing software for contractors. Kite searches your blog post entries for that topic, finds the post that should answer the question, and sees that its summary never mentions contractors. Before it rewrites a shared block, such as the pricing callout that appears on every product page, it checks which pages include that entry. That way you know exactly where the change will show up.

Write new entries and publish them

Kite creates new entries in the content types your site already uses, so a new page appears in your existing design. It writes the fields your content type defines, such as the title, slug, summary, body, and SEO description, in your brand voice. Then it publishes the entry so your site can show it.

Say buyers keep asking AI assistants how you compare with a competitor, and you have no page that answers them. Kite writes the comparison page as a new landing-page entry in Contentful rather than a document for someone to paste in. If your team prefers to review new pages inside Contentful first, Kite saves the entry as a draft and your editor publishes it.

The same applies to entries you already have. Kite rewrites the fields on an existing entry when a post needs a clearer answer, a statistic has gone stale, or an FAQ needs a new question. It can archive an entry that's no longer live, restore an archived entry, or delete one you don't want at all.

Change the copy on a live page of your website

When you've imported your website into Kite and its text comes from Contentful, Kite can change the copy on a specific page. You tell Kite which page and which words, or Kite proposes the change itself. Kite finds the entry and field in Contentful that hold that exact text on that page, writes the new copy, and publishes the entry. Then it reads the entry back to confirm the new wording is what Contentful now publishes.

Say your homepage headline still reads "Built for agencies" a month after you repositioned for in-house marketing teams. You mention it in Slack, and Kite changes the headline in Contentful and confirms that the new line is published. If the same words appear in more than one entry, Kite shows you each one and asks which you meant.

Add images and files to your content

Kite uploads images, videos, and documents to your Contentful media library as assets, prepares them so Contentful can serve them, and publishes them. That includes images Kite creates itself, such as the hero image for a new blog post. A finished entry can arrive with its visuals already in place. Kite can also archive or delete assets you've stopped using.

Schedule launches and keep their content together

Kite can schedule an entry or asset to publish, or to unpublish, at a specific time, and it can cancel a schedule when plans change. It can also gather a launch's entries and assets into a Contentful release, which keeps everything that belongs to one launch in one place.

Say your new pricing goes live Tuesday at 9 a.m. Kite writes the updated pricing section, the launch blog post, and the announcement banner, adds all three to a release named for the launch, and schedules each one to publish at 9 a.m. If a holiday promotion ends Sunday night, Kite can schedule its banner to come down at midnight.

Publish in every language your site supports

Contentful stores a separate value for each locale, such as English and German, in every field you translate. Kite reads which locales your space uses and writes the value for each one when it creates or updates an entry. That means a new landing page can launch in every language your site offers at the same time. When you expand into a new market, Kite can add the new locale to your space.

Hand work to your editors inside Contentful

Kite can work alongside the people who review content in Contentful. It leaves a comment on an entry that explains what it changed and why. It can also create a task on an entry and assign it to a teammate, such as a legal review on a page that makes a new claim about your product.

Add the content types and tags a new kind of page needs

Sometimes the thing your site is missing is a place to put the content. If your space has no content type for questions and answers, Kite can create an FAQ content type with the fields it needs and activate it so entries can be written. On a site you've imported into Kite, Kite can also add the page template that displays the new type. Kite creates and updates tags and taxonomy concepts too, which lets your team organize entries by campaign, product line, or audience.

Start work when something is published in Contentful

Kite can set up a Contentful webhook, which is a notice Contentful sends to another system each time something happens in your space. Point that notice at a Kite workflow, and publishing a new blog post can prompt Kite to write the LinkedIn post that announces it. Kite also reads each webhook's recent deliveries and health, so it can tell you when an existing webhook has stopped reaching its destination.

What Kite reads and changes in Contentful

Kite can both read and change your Contentful content. The lists below cover the parts of your space Kite works with for marketing.

Information Kite can read

  • Spaces and environmentsKite lists the spaces and environments your account can reach, so it works in the one your website actually uses.
  • Content types and their fieldsThe structure of each kind of content tells Kite which fields a new entry needs and how your site's pages are put together.
  • Entries, published and draftKite reads the field values in every entry and every locale, including unpublished drafts. It can filter entries by content type or by the value in a field.
  • References between entriesKite sees which entries include a given entry, so it knows every page a shared block appears on.
  • Version historyEarlier versions of an entry or a content type show what a page said before a change, which helps Kite compare results before and after.
  • AssetsKite reads your images, videos, and documents, along with their file details and whether each one is published.
  • LocalesKite reads the languages and regions your space supports, including the default locale and fallback settings.
  • Releases, comments, and webhooksKite reads what a release contains, the comments on an entry, and each webhook's settings, recent deliveries, and health.

Information Kite can create or change

  • EntriesKite creates entries, updates their fields, publishes them, and archives, restores, or deletes them.
  • Copy on a live page of an imported siteKite writes new text into the entry and field behind a specific page, publishes it, and confirms the published version holds the new text.
  • AssetsKite uploads, prepares, publishes, archives, and deletes images, videos, and documents.
  • Publishing schedulesKite schedules an entry or asset to publish or unpublish at a set time, and cancels a schedule.
  • ReleasesKite creates a release from a set of entries and assets, and archives or deletes releases.

  • Content types, tags, and taxonomyKite creates, updates, activates, and removes content types, adjusts how their fields appear to your editors, and creates or updates tags and taxonomy concepts.
  • Comments and tasksKite comments on entries and assigns review tasks to your teammates.
  • WebhooksKite creates, updates, and deletes the webhooks in your space.
  • EnvironmentsKite can create a new environment copied from an existing one and remove an environment you no longer need.

How Kite connects to Contentful

Connect your Contentful account through OAuth, which means you sign in to Contentful and approve Kite's access. Kite then works with the spaces, environments, and content available to that account, and it can do what that user's role allows. Your Kite team has one Contentful connection, and every site your team imports into Kite uses it.

When you import a website whose content comes from Contentful, Kite recognizes that and asks you to connect. If your account can see only one space, or your site's code names its space, Kite uses that space. Otherwise you choose the space from a list. Kite works in the environment your site reads from, which is usually the master environment. If that environment has no Delivery API key, Kite creates one named "Kite site delivery" so your imported site can display its content. You'll see it in Contentful's API keys settings, and you can revoke it there.

You can start with a goal rather than a set of instructions, such as "Our pricing page doesn't explain the new Team plan." Kite uses what it knows about your business to find the entry that needs to change, writes the new copy, and shows you the change before it publishes.

Where Contentful fits in Kite's marketing work

Review and approval

Kite proposes work by default. A team approves it with a reply in the Slack thread or the Approve button on a proposed plan. Teams that want Kite to act first can turn that on. For Contentful, that means you see the specific entry and the new copy before Kite publishes it. Kite can also save its work as a draft entry so your editors approve it inside Contentful.

Limits and product-specific details

  • Page copy versus page design. On an imported site, Kite's live-page edits change text that's stored in Contentful fields. Layout, page templates, and site settings that live in your website's code are changed in the imported code instead.
  • One space per site. Kite edits a site's content in the single Contentful space that site reads from. If your account has several spaces, you choose the right one when you connect.

Common questions

Do I need to move my site off Contentful to work with Kite?

No. Kite works on your Contentful content where it already lives, and your site keeps reading from the same space. If you'd rather start fresh, Kite can also build and host a new site that comes with its own content editor, but that's a separate choice.

Can Kite publish to Contentful on a schedule instead of right away?

Yes. Kite can schedule any entry or asset to publish or unpublish at a specific date and time, so a launch page, a pricing update, or a promotion banner changes exactly when you need it to. You can ask Kite to cancel or move the schedule if the date changes.
