Why unanswered reviews cost you customers
A review site is a public conversation between your customers and the people deciding whether to become one. When a hotel guest reads a Tripadvisor review about a noisy room, they also read whether the hotel replied. When a shopper checks a store on Trustpilot, a page of complaints with no answers tells them nobody is listening. Unanswered reviews make a business look absent, even when the team is working hard behind the scenes.
Replying well isn't difficult, but it adds up fast once reviews arrive on several sites. Someone has to:
- notice each new review on Yelp, Trustpilot, and Tripadvisor, which each have their own dashboard and notification emails
- write a reply that responds to what the customer actually said, rather than a thank-you note that could sit under any review
- handle the angry reviews carefully, which usually means finding out what happened first
- post each reply on the right site, under that site's rules.
Most small teams start strong and fall behind within a few weeks. The reviews that go unanswered are usually the hard ones, which are exactly the ones future customers read most closely.
This is work an AI agent suits well. It rewards steady attention and specific knowledge of your business, and it needs good judgment about tone more than it needs hours of anyone's time. Kite is an AI marketer. It researches your business, builds a growth strategy, and ships the work that brings you new customers. For reviews, that means Kite keeps up with all three sites, writes every reply, and brings you only the decisions that need you.
How Kite replies to your Yelp, Trustpilot, and Tripadvisor reviews
Kite replies to reviews by working through the same loop on every site: find the new reviews, decide what each one needs, write the reply, get it posted, and learn from what customers keep saying. What changes from site to site is how Kite finds the reviews and how the reply gets posted.
Kite starts with what it already knows. When you sign up, it researches your company and records your products or services, locations, hours, policies, and brand voice in your team's knowledge base. That knowledge is what lets Kite write "We've since added blackout curtains to the street-facing rooms" instead of "We're sorry to hear about your experience."
From there, Kite gathers new reviews from each site, drafts the replies, and brings them to you as one batch. It posts the approved Trustpilot replies itself and gives you the Yelp and Tripadvisor replies ready to paste. Over time, it learns from your edits, so later drafts already sound the way you want.

How do you keep up with replying to every review?
You keep up with every review by checking each site on a steady schedule and answering new reviews in batches, and Kite runs that schedule for you. How it finds new reviews depends on the site.
- Trustpilot. Once you connect your Trustpilot Business account, Kite reads your service and product reviews directly, including the ones that don't have a reply yet. You agree on a schedule, such as every weekday morning, and each run picks up whatever arrived since the last one.
- Yelp and Tripadvisor. Kite can keep a standing watch on your Yelp and Tripadvisor listings and tell you when a new review appears. Both sites also email you when someone reviews your business, and you can forward those emails to your team's Kite email address so Kite starts the reply right away. You can also paste a review into the conversation at any time.
Each batch starts with a short summary. Kite might report five new reviews: three positive ones on Trustpilot ready to approve, a four-star Tripadvisor review with a reply ready to paste, and a one-star Yelp review that needs your input before Kite can reply well.
How do you write a personal reply to a review with AI?
A personal reply answers what the customer actually said, and Kite writes each one from the review's own details. It reads the rating and the text, works out which product, visit, room, or staff member the review is about, and checks your knowledge base for anything relevant.
Then Kite writes the reply in your brand's voice. A five-star Tripadvisor review that praises the breakfast and mentions a server named Ana gets a reply that thanks the guest, passes the compliment to Ana, and mentions the Sunday brunch they might not have tried. A four-star Trustpilot review that says delivery took a week gets a thank-you and a note that orders now ship from a second warehouse, if your knowledge base says they do.
Kite keeps replies short and varies how they open, because a page where every reply starts with "Thank you for your kind words" reads like a form letter to the next person scrolling through. It writes for each site's audience, too. A reply on Tripadvisor speaks to future travelers as much as to the guest, while a reply on Trustpilot often needs to address an order, a delivery, or a refund.
What's a good way to respond to a bad Yelp review?
A good response to a bad review stays calm, acknowledges the problem in plain words, explains any relevant fact without arguing, and offers a direct way to resolve it. Kite handles negative reviews on all three sites this way, and it starts by working out what went wrong before it writes anything.
Kite reads the complaint closely and separates the facts the customer states from their frustration. If a Yelp reviewer says they waited 40 minutes for a table they had booked, Kite checks what it knows about your reservation policy and Friday staffing. Often the most important fact is one only you know, such as whether the booking existed or whether the kitchen was short-staffed that night. In that case, Kite asks you directly instead of guessing.
Kite then drafts a reply that a stranger reading it would find fair. It names the problem, owns what you got wrong, and gives the customer a way to reach the person who can make it right, such as your manager's email address. It keeps the customer's private details, order numbers, and anything they told you privately out of the public reply.
On Yelp, Kite also helps you decide whether to answer with a public comment, a private message, or both. A public comment shows every future reader how you handle problems. A private message suits a situation where the details are personal or the customer is likely to want a refund. When a review looks like it breaks the site's rules, for example because the reviewer was never a customer, Kite explains why and you report it through the site. Kite still drafts a calm reply, because readers judge your response even when the review is unfair.
Post replies where each site allows them
Kite posts approved replies to Trustpilot for you, and gives you finished replies for Yelp and Tripadvisor, because each site controls how owners can respond. Trustpilot lets a connected business account post replies to service and product reviews, so Kite shows you each draft beside the review it answers, and once you approve, Kite posts it.
On Yelp and Tripadvisor, you post owner replies through each site's own business tools: Yelp for Business and the Tripadvisor Management Center. For those, Kite gives you each approved reply ready to copy, labeled with the reviewer's name, the date, and a link to the review, so posting a batch takes a couple of minutes. Tripadvisor checks each response against its guidelines before it appears, so Kite writes replies that keep to them from the start.
As you come to trust Kite's replies, you can give it more autonomy on Trustpilot. For example, you might let it post replies to four- and five-star reviews on its own while it keeps bringing you anything negative or sensitive.
See what your reviews are telling you
Your reviews are some of the most honest customer research you have, and Kite reads them that way while it replies. It notices the praise that comes up again and again and the complaints that appear more than once. A hotel might learn that a dozen Tripadvisor reviews mention the rooftop bar, while noise from the street comes up in reviews of the same three rooms.
Kite brings these patterns to you with examples and records them in your knowledge base, so later work can use them. The praise often belongs on your website and in your ads, in your customers' own words. The complaints point to problems worth fixing before they show up in the next review. Kite also keeps track of how many reviews still need a reply on each site and whether your ratings are moving, so you can see the backlog shrink.

How to get started
You can work with Kite in your browser or in Slack. Start by telling Kite what you want in plain language. You might write, "We have about 60 Trustpilot reviews with no reply. Can you draft replies and keep up with new ones?" or "Help me answer our Yelp and Tripadvisor reviews every week."
If you use Trustpilot, Kite asks you to connect your Trustpilot Business account, then reads your reviews and finds the ones without a reply. For Yelp and Tripadvisor, Kite asks for the links to your listings so it can watch them. It comes back with a proposed schedule and a few sample replies so you can check the tone before it works through the backlog.
Kite asks before it posts anything publicly. You approve replies with the Approve button or a reply in the conversation, in the Kite web app or in Slack. When you change a reply or tell Kite how you prefer to handle a certain kind of review, it records that as a rule for later drafts.

Common questions
Should businesses respond to every Trustpilot review, and how?
Yes, reply to every review you can, starting with the negative ones. Replies to negative reviews show future customers how you handle problems, and replies to positive reviews show that real people run the business. Keep positive replies short and specific, and give negative reviews a calm reply with a way to reach someone who can help. Trustpilot shows your reply directly under the review, and you can edit it later, for example to say the problem was resolved. Kite drafts both kinds.
Do Yelp, Trustpilot, and Tripadvisor allow AI-written replies?
Their response guidelines focus on what a reply says rather than how it was written. All three expect replies to be relevant to the review, courteous, and free of customers' personal information, and none allow offering anything in return for changing or removing a review. Kite writes within those rules, and every reply goes out under your business's name after you approve it, so you stay responsible for what it says, just as you would with a reply a staff member drafted.
Can I reply to a Tripadvisor review?
Yes. Claim your listing through the Tripadvisor Management Center, which is free, and you can post one management response to each review. Tripadvisor checks responses against its guidelines before publishing them, so a reply can take a little while to appear. Kite writes the response, and you paste it into the Management Center.
Can Kite post replies on Yelp and Tripadvisor for me?
Not directly. Kite has no way to post owner replies on Yelp or Tripadvisor, so those replies go through Yelp for Business and the Tripadvisor Management Center. Kite does the rest of the work: it finds the new reviews, writes the replies, gets your approval, and hands you each one ready to paste with a link to the review.
Can AI write reviews for my business?
AI can generate review text, but posting reviews of your own business, or paying anyone to post them, breaks the rules of Yelp, Trustpilot, and Tripadvisor. In the United States, the Federal Trade Commission also bans fake reviews. Each site can remove reviews it judges fake and warn readers on the listing. Kite writes replies to the reviews your real customers leave. It doesn't write reviews.
Can Kite handle reviews for several locations or several clients?
Yes. Each draft names the location, listing, or product it belongs to, so the reply for your downtown hotel doesn't mention the pool at your beach property. An agency can run a separate Kite team for each client, and each team keeps its own research, brand voice, and connected accounts. For a business whose reviews are mostly on Google, see Manage Google reviews and your Google Business Profile.
