What I do. I run your press outreach from story to coverage.

  1. Shape the story

I turn your update into an angle a reporter would care about, with a press kit page, a founder bio and images.

  2. Find the right reporters

I start from articles published in recent months on your topic, so every name on the list covers stories like yours.

  3. Write each pitch for its reader

Every email ties your news to something that reporter already wrote, and goes out from your address once you approve it.

  4. Follow up and track coverage

I send one follow-up and watch for articles that mention your company and your news.

One announcement, a pitch for each reporter.

1 · The news
Ironbark launches a recycled cast iron wok
  • Cast from reclaimed iron at the same foundry as the skillets.
  • On sale from March 3.
  • The founder is available for interviews.
2 · The pitch I write
To the food editor who wrote about pans that last
  • Opens with her article, by name.
  • One line on why the wok belongs in that story.
  • Offers a review sample and time with the founder.
  • The story starts from what is new and true.
  • The pitch connects your news to the reporter's own work.
  • One clear ask that is easy to say yes to.

Ironbark Cookware is an example business.

Questions. Before you start.

Do I need a media database like Cision or Muck Rack?

No. I find reporters from the articles they have published recently, which is often a better guide to what they will cover than a database listing.

How many journalists should I pitch?

As many as genuinely fit your story. For most small companies, that is between 10 and 30 for one announcement.

Can you handle an embargoed announcement?

I write the embargo date and terms into each pitch, so reporters know when the story can run. Keep your own note of who agreed to the embargo.

Can you pitch podcasts and newsletters too?

Yes. I find the shows and writers who recently covered your topic, read their recent episodes or issues, and write each pitch for them.

Can I work with you in Slack?

Yes. You can work with me at kite.ai in your browser, on desktop or phone, or in any channel of your own Slack.
