What Icypeas is and how Kite uses it
Icypeas is an email finding and verification service for B2B outreach. It works out a person's work email from their name and company, checks whether an existing address can receive mail, and holds searchable databases of professional profiles and companies. It also reads public LinkedIn profiles and company pages.
Kite uses all of that as one research source for outbound work. It finds and verifies the addresses on a prospect list, builds new lists from the Icypeas databases, and fills in the gaps on rows that arrive half finished. Then it carries the results into your spreadsheet, CRM, or outreach campaign. You connect your own Icypeas account with an API key, so the searches use the credits on your plan.
Marketing jobs Kite can do with Icypeas
Icypeas is built around searches. You send it a name, an address, a domain, a LinkedIn URL, or a set of filters, and it returns what it found along with how sure it is. Kite decides which search each row needs, runs it, and turns the results into a list your team can send to. The jobs below run in roughly the order a campaign needs them, from finding the right people to reaching them.
Find work email addresses for a person or a whole list
Kite finds a person's work email by giving Icypeas their first name, last name, and company name or website. For one person, it runs a single email search. For a list, it starts a bulk email search that Icypeas works through in the background, and Kite checks its progress and collects the results as they finish.
Say you come back from a trade show with 200 badge scans that have names and companies but no email addresses. Kite adds each company's website where the scan is missing it, sends the list to Icypeas, and returns it with an address and Icypeas's confidence in that address beside every name it could find. The people Icypeas couldn't find stay on the list, marked as not found.
Verify the addresses you already have
Kite checks an address you already have by sending it to Icypeas's email verification, which tests whether the mailbox exists and accepts mail. This matters most for older lists, because people change jobs and companies change domains, and every bounce makes it a little harder for your next email to reach an inbox.
When you hand Kite last year's webinar export before a re-engagement campaign, it verifies each address on it. When an address fails, Kite marks it as one to stop using and runs a fresh email search for the person at their current company.
Build a prospect list from Icypeas's people and company databases
Kite builds a new list by searching Icypeas's people database with filters for job title, company, location, skills, languages, school, and keywords. Each filter can include or exclude values, so Kite can look for marketing leaders in Germany while leaving out agencies and your current customers. Its company search works the same way with filters such as industry, location, and headcount.
Before it runs a search, Kite counts how many people or companies match. Counting costs no credits, so you see the size of the list before anyone pays for it. If you ask for heads of growth at software companies with 50 to 200 employees and the count comes back at 14,000, Kite tightens the filters with you first, using what it knows about your best customers, rather than pulling a list nobody could work through.
Read LinkedIn profiles and company pages
Kite reads a public LinkedIn profile or company page through Icypeas to fill in a row and confirm it's current. A profile gives Kite the person's name, current role, and employer. A company page gives it the company's own description of itself. Kite can read one page at a time or up to 50 in a single request.
This is how Kite checks that the person on your list still holds the job you're writing to them about. When a prospect turns out to have moved to a new company, Kite tells you and offers to look them up there, because a new role is often a good reason to get in touch.
Connect names, LinkedIn profiles, and email addresses
Kite uses Icypeas to fill whichever piece of a contact record is missing. It finds a person's LinkedIn profile URL from their name and company or job title, and it finds a company's profile URL from its name or website. It can do either for a whole list at once.
It also works in reverse. Given a professional email address, Icypeas finds the LinkedIn profile behind it, one address at a time or in batches of up to 50. That's useful when a list has email addresses and nothing else, such as a newsletter signup export. Kite finds out who each person is and where they work, then decides with you which of them belong in a sales conversation.
What Kite reads in Icypeas
Information Kite can read
- Email search resultsThe work address Icypeas found for each person and how certain it is, for single searches and bulk searches.
- Verification resultsWhether an existing address exists and accepts mail, which tells Kite whether to keep it, send to it with care, or replace it.
- People and company search resultsThe profiles and companies that match Kite's filters, and the count of matches before the search runs.
- LinkedIn profiles and company pagesThe person's name, role, and employer, or the company's details, used to fill in and confirm each record.
- Profile URLs and reverse lookupsThe LinkedIn profile behind a name or an email address, and a company's profile URL.
- Role-based addressesThe shared inboxes Icypeas finds on a company's domain.
- Bulk search statusThe progress of each bulk search and the list of bulk searches on your account, so Kite knows when results are ready to collect.
- Credits and subscriptionYour remaining credits and subscription status, which Kite checks before a large run.
How Kite connects to Icypeas
Add the API key from your Icypeas account. Kite uses the access granted to that key, and every search it runs uses credits from your Icypeas plan. You don't need to write any code against the Icypeas API yourself, because Kite makes those calls for you.
Once Icypeas is connected, you can start with a plain request in the Kite web app or in Slack, such as "Find work emails for this list with Icypeas and add the good ones to our outbound sheet." Before a large run, Kite tells you its plan: how many people need an address found, how many have one to verify, which rows it is setting aside and why, and how many credits your account has left. Confirm the plan, and Kite starts.

Limits and product-specific details
- Searches use your Icypeas credits. Email searches, verifications, profile reads, and database searches draw on your plan. A reverse lookup costs 10 credits for each profile it finds. Counting matches before a search is free.
- LinkedIn reads cover public pages. Kite reads profiles and company pages that are publicly visible on LinkedIn.
Common questions
Do I need an Icypeas account for Kite to find work emails?
No. Kite has its own work-email finder built in, which checks several sources in turn and verifies every address it finds, with no account of your own. Connect Icypeas when you already pay for Icypeas credits or want your lists run through Icypeas specifically. When you have both, Kite labels which source supplied each address.
How long does a bulk search take?
It depends on the size of the list, because Icypeas works through bulk searches in the background rather than answering instantly. Kite starts the search, checks its progress, and collects the results as they finish, then reports back in the same conversation. You don't need to keep the conversation open while it runs.
