# Improve your visibility in AI answers

When someone asks ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, or Claude for the best tool in your category, you want your brand in the answer. Kite works toward that by measuring where you show up in AI answers today, figuring out why competitors get cited when you don't, and making the changes on your site that earn those citations. It starts from what it already knows about your business, so it can propose the exact buyer questions to track instead of asking you to guess. Then it runs those questions across all four assistants and turns the results into a ranked plan of work it can carry out.

## How Kite improves your visibility in AI answers

The work moves through four stages. First, Kite measures your current standing by running a set of buyer questions across the four assistants and recording where you appear. Then it reads the pages those answers cite to learn who is winning the citations and what those pages do to earn them. From there it recommends a ranked set of changes, from new comparison pages to cleaner structured data. Finally it makes and publishes those changes, then runs the same questions again to see what moved.

### Measure where you appear in AI answers today

Visibility in AI answers begins with the questions your buyers actually ask. Kite uses what it learned about your business during onboarding, including your category, positioning, ideal customer, and competitors, to propose a set of questions to track, the keywords behind them, and the rival brands worth watching. You confirm or adjust that set in Slack before anything runs.

Kite then asks each question to ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Claude and records what comes back. For every question it notes whether your brand appears in the answer, which competing brands appear instead, and which pages and domains the assistant cites as its sources. It rolls those results up into your rank, your visibility, and your share of voice against the other brands the assistants surface. Share of voice here simply means how often you show up compared with everyone else the assistants name for the same questions, so you can see at a glance how often you appear and who is beating you.

### Learn who gets cited and why

Knowing you are absent is only half the answer. Kite reads the pages the assistants cite and works out what is earning those citations. It sorts the cited pages into the kinds that tend to feed AI answers: "best tool" roundups, head-to-head comparisons, product documentation, and community threads on sites like Reddit. For each one it identifies which competitors are featured and what the page is doing that gets it quoted.

Kite adds search context to the picture. It can pull the keywords your competitors rank for, the search volume behind your tracked questions, and whether a Google AI Overview already appears for them. When you connect a tool like Semrush or Ahrefs, Kite can also weigh the backlinks and domain authority of the domains that keep getting cited, so you can tell the gaps you could close soon from the ones that will take longer.

### Turn the findings into a ranked set of changes

Kite turns the measurement into a specific, prioritized list of changes rather than a generic audit. The right changes depend on why your brand is being left out. Kite might create comparison or category pages for questions competitors are winning. It can also improve existing pages with clearer answers, stronger structured data, better internal links, and updated `llms.txt` and crawler rules. When the strongest opportunity sits elsewhere, Kite can pitch the third-party roundups and comparisons the assistants already cite.

Kite ranks the changes by the difference each is likely to make, so you start with the work most likely to move a tracked question. It can also run its AI-agent readiness scan on your domain. That scan checks 22 things across discoverability, content, bot access, capability discovery, and commerce, returns a readiness score from zero to five, and gives a specific fix for each check your site fails.

### Make and publish the changes

A plan only helps if the changes ship, so Kite does the work once you approve it. On a website Kite hosts, it writes the new pages, rewrites the weak answers, adds the structured data, and updates your `llms.txt` and crawler files directly, with no separate content system to connect. If your site runs on Webflow, self-hosted WordPress, Contentful, Sanity, or Storyblok, Kite publishes the same changes through your connected account.

Once the changes are live, Kite runs the original questions again and compares the new results with your baseline. You see which tracked questions you now appear in, where your share of voice moved, and what to work on next.

## What you get

- **A baseline AI-visibility report.** The buyer questions Kite tracks, whether your brand appears in each answer from ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Claude, the competitors that show up instead, and your share of voice for the set.
- **A map of the sources AI answers cite.** The pages and domains each assistant quotes, what kind of page each one is (roundup, comparison, documentation, or community thread), and which competitors they feature.
- **An AI-agent readiness score.** A rating from zero to five built from 22 checks across discoverability, content, bot access, capability discovery, and commerce, with a specific fix for every check your site fails.
- **A ranked plan of changes.** The pages to create, the answers to sharpen, the structured data and crawler files to update, and the third-party sources worth pitching, ordered by expected impact.
- **The published changes and a fresh measurement.** Kite ships the approved work on your site and runs the same questions again so you can see what moved.

## How to get started

You can begin with a goal instead of a brief, such as "Help us show up when buyers ask ChatGPT for tools like ours" or "Find out why competitors keep coming up in AI answers when we don't." Kite already knows your category, positioning, ideal customer, and main competitors from onboarding, so it proposes the buyer questions to track, the four engines to run them on, and the competitor set to measure against. That plan comes back to Slack for you to confirm or adjust before any measurement runs.

Kite is your AI marketer in Slack. It researches your business, builds a growth strategy, and ships the work that brings you new customers.

The measurement runs on Kite's built-in data, so there is nothing to connect to see your first report. Connect your content system when you want Kite to publish changes to a site it does not host, or Google Search Console when you want your search performance folded into the analysis.

Kite proposes work by default. A team approves it with a reply in the Slack thread or the Approve button on a proposed plan. Teams that want Kite to act first can turn that on.

## Playbooks for improving AI-answer visibility

Each playbook shows one concrete way to do this work with a named product.

Start here to set your baseline. Kite runs your tracked questions across the four assistants and reports where you appear, who gets cited instead, and your share of voice.

## Integrations used for improving AI-answer visibility

Kite has 20+ built-in data sources, so the measurement and most of the research need nothing connected. You connect a product only when Kite has to read from or publish to a system you own.

### Measure AI answers and search demand

- [DataForSEO + Kite](/integrations/dataforseo.md): DataForSEO is built into Kite and supplies the data behind the AI-answer and search measurements, including competitor rankings, search volume, and whether a Google AI Overview appears. The runs across the four assistants and the AI-agent readiness scan are built in the same way, with no account for you to connect.

### Study the sources AI answers cite

- **Semrush + Kite:** Connect Semrush and Kite can compare the keywords, rankings, and content gaps behind the pages the assistants cite.
- **Google Search Console + Kite:** Connect Search Console and Kite can line up your real search performance against where you appear in AI answers.

Connect Ahrefs or Moz as well when you want Kite to weigh the backlinks and domain authority of the domains that keep getting cited.

### Publish the changes where your site lives

If Kite hosts your site, it publishes every change directly. If your content lives elsewhere, connect the system and Kite publishes there instead.

- [Webflow + Kite](/integrations/webflow.md): Kite writes the new pages, structured data, and crawler files into your connected content system. Kite also supports self-hosted WordPress, Contentful, Sanity, and Storyblok for this work.

## Common questions

### Can Kite improve visibility for a site it didn't build?

Yes. Kite measures any public domain and reads the sources AI answers cite no matter where your site runs. When it is time to publish the recommended changes, Kite works through the content system you connect, such as Webflow or self-hosted WordPress, or handles them directly on a site it hosts for you.

### How often should the measurement run?

Most teams set a baseline, ship a round of changes, then run the same questions again to check progress. AI answers shift as the assistants update their models and sources, so tracking your questions on a regular cadence tells you more than a single snapshot ever could.

### Can Kite tell me how much traffic AI answers send to my site?

Visibility here is measured by how often you appear and get cited in the assistants' answers, not by referral traffic. The tracked questions, the cited sources, and your share of voice show whether your changes are earning you a place in the answers, which is the part you can act on directly.
