# PredictLeads + Kite

PredictLeads is a company-signals data provider. It tracks the funding rounds, hiring, and news events behind a company, all tied to the company's website. Kite uses PredictLeads to find companies at the moment something changes for them, read the freshest reasons to reach out to an account you already care about, and widen a target list with lookalike companies. Every signal arrives with the article, job posting, or filing behind it, so a list Kite builds carries its own evidence. PredictLeads is built into Kite, so you can start without a separate account, and you can connect your own account when you want its technology data too.

## PredictLeads + Kite at a glance

- **Works with:** Company news and buying-signal events, funding rounds, job openings, lookalike companies, and technology usage through a connected account, all tied to each company's website.

## Marketing jobs Kite can do with PredictLeads

PredictLeads answers two shapes of question: which companies across the whole market just did something worth acting on, and what is the latest history on a company you already have in mind. Kite uses it for both, then reuses the same signals to grow and rank a target list. The jobs below run from open-ended discovery to research on named accounts.

### Find companies at the moment a buying signal appears

Kite searches the whole company universe for accounts by what just happened to them. Through the news-event discovery, it pulls companies that recently raised funding, opened an office, changed leadership, launched a product, or won or lost a client, narrowed by event category, company location, and company size. Through the hiring discovery, it pulls companies by the roles they are actively hiring for, narrowed by seniority from director up to C-level, the kind of role, and location.

This is how Kite builds a target list with a real reason for timing. A company that just closed a Series B or started staffing a demand-gen team has both a budget and a project your outreach can speak to. Kite keeps the signal and its date on each account, reads that date on every record, and drops events too old to count as a current trigger, so the list reflects what happened lately rather than a company's whole history.

### Read the latest signals on an account you already care about

When you already have a company in mind, from your CRM, a target list, or a competitor set, Kite looks it up by domain and reads its recent history. The news-events read returns categorized events for that company: funding, leadership changes, office and headcount expansion, product launches, partnerships, and client wins and losses, each with its category, the date it was found, and a one-sentence extract. For funding specifically, the financing read returns the round, the amount, and the investors as structured fields, plus the articles that reported them. The job-openings read returns the roles the company is hiring for, with the option to see only roles open right now, and ties each posting to the board where it was found.

Hiring can be one of the clearest intent signals because it reveals where a company is investing and what it is building next. Kite reads these before it writes outreach, so the message references something specific and current instead of a generic pitch.

### Expand a target list with lookalike companies

Give Kite one company you want more of, such as your best customer or a close competitor, and it reads the similar-companies list for that domain. This is the seed for widening an ideal-customer profile and for mapping a competitive set. Kite can take the lookalikes it gets back and run them through the same signal checks, so an expanded list arrives already sorted by which of the new companies also show a recent trigger.

### Target by the technology a company uses

With your own PredictLeads account connected, Kite can also work with its technology dataset. It looks up the technologies PredictLeads tracks and pulls the companies that use a specific one, so you can target accounts by the tools already in their stack. This helps when your product complements or replaces a named technology and you want the companies that run it. This dataset belongs to the connected-account route rather than the built-in one.

## What Kite reads in PredictLeads

PredictLeads is a read-only research source. Everything Kite does with it is reading signals and gathering the evidence behind them; the outreach, records, and lists that follow are produced through Kite and your connected destinations. The data Kite draws on includes:

- **Company news events.** Categorized events for a company by domain, covering funding, leadership changes, office and headcount expansion, product launches, partnerships, and client wins and losses, each with its category, found date, and a short extract.
- **Funding rounds.** The round, amount, and investors for a company's financings as structured fields, with the articles that reported them.
- **Job openings.** The roles a company is hiring for, filterable to only currently open postings, each tied to the board where it appeared.
- **Company discovery by signal.** Across the whole company universe, the companies that recently had a given kind of news event or that are hiring for a given kind of role, narrowed by category, location, size, and seniority.
- **Lookalike companies.** The companies most similar to a seed company, for profile expansion and competitor mapping.
- **Technology usage.** Through your own connected PredictLeads account, the technologies a company uses and the companies that use a named technology.

## How Kite connects to PredictLeads

Kite is your AI marketer in Slack. It researches your business, builds a growth strategy, and ships the work that brings you new customers.

PredictLeads is built into Kite and runs on Kite's own credentials, so there is no account to connect and nothing to set up before your first signal search. If you want Kite to use your own PredictLeads account, add its API key; that route is optional and also gives Kite the technology dataset. Begin with a goal, such as asking Kite to find companies that raised funding last quarter and fit your customer profile, and Kite proposes the signal categories, filters, and competitor set before anything runs.

## Playbooks using PredictLeads

- [How to find companies showing buying signals with PredictLeads and Kite](/playbooks/find-companies-showing-buying-signals-with-predictleads-and-kite.md)
Kite picks a signal family, searches the company universe for accounts that just matched it, filters out stale events, and returns a qualified account list where every company carries the signal and the source behind it.

- [How to find companies showing buying signals and identify contacts with PredictLeads, Apollo, and Kite](/playbooks/find-companies-showing-buying-signals-and-identify-contacts-with-predictleads-apollo-and-kite.md)
After PredictLeads surfaces the accounts, Kite uses Apollo to find and enrich the right people at each one, so the list arrives with named contacts and their details rather than domains alone.

- [How to build a lead list from company signals with PredictLeads, Crustdata, and Kite](/playbooks/build-a-lead-list-from-company-signals-with-predictleads-crustdata-and-kite.md)
PredictLeads finds the companies with a fresh trigger, then Crustdata resolves the decision-makers and their profiles, and Kite returns a sourced list of people to contact with the signal kept alongside each row.

- [How to add buying-signal accounts to HubSpot with PredictLeads and Kite](/playbooks/add-buying-signal-accounts-to-hubspot-with-predictleads-and-kite.md)
Kite qualifies the signal accounts and writes them into HubSpot as company records, attaching the dated signal and its source as a note so sales sees why each account made the list.

## Where PredictLeads fits in Kite's marketing work

### [Build qualified B2B lead lists](/use-cases/build-b2b-lead-lists.md)

PredictLeads supplies the reason for timing in this use case. It tells Kite which companies just did something that makes them worth contacting now, and Kite folds that timing into the company and contact criteria it scores each prospect against. Paired with a people source and a destination, the signal becomes a ranked list of accounts and contacts saved where your team already works.

## Limits and product-specific details

- **Signals are company-level.** PredictLeads returns companies and their events, identified by their website domain. Kite finds the people at those companies through a people source such as Apollo or Crustdata, then combines the two into a contact list.
- **Recent-signal discovery has a time boundary.** The hiring discovery reads postings from about the past year, and Kite treats events beyond a useful window as history rather than a current trigger.
- **Technology data uses a connected account.** Company events, funding, hiring, and lookalikes are built in; the technology dataset comes through your own connected PredictLeads account.

## Common questions

### How fresh are the signals PredictLeads gives Kite?

Each signal carries the date it was found, and Kite reads that date on every record. For discovery searches it keeps the recent events and sets aside the stale ones, so a list reflects what happened lately rather than a company's full history. The hiring discovery itself only reaches back about a year.

### Can Kite tell me why a company is on the list?

Yes. Every signal comes with the thing behind it: the article that reported a funding round, the posting behind a job opening, or the extract behind a news event. When Kite qualifies an account, it keeps that evidence and its date, so the list explains itself and sales can see the reason each company made the cut.
