# Crustdata + Kite

Crustdata is a B2B data provider with a company database and a person database of more than a billion professional profiles, built from firmographic records and public LinkedIn data. Kite uses Crustdata to find the companies that match your target market, find the right people at those companies, and pull a person's employment history and work email from their LinkedIn profile. It can also read a person's or company's recent public LinkedIn posts. Crustdata is built into Kite, so you can start without an account of your own, and you can add your own Crustdata account with an API key for deeper company data.

## Crustdata + Kite at a glance

- **Connection:** Built into Kite, with an optional API-key connection for your own Crustdata account.

- **Works with:** Company records, professional profiles, LinkedIn profile and post data, work-email lookups, and firmographic filters such as headcount growth, funding, and category.
- **Capabilities verified:** August 26, 2026.

## Marketing jobs Kite can do with Crustdata

Crustdata gives Kite two research databases: one of companies and one of people. The jobs below run in the order a lead list is built, from naming the accounts to reaching a named contact, and they use the built-in route unless the job calls for your own account.

### Find companies that match your target market

Kite searches Crustdata's company database by the traits that define your market, such as headcount growth, funding, and category, then works through the full set of matches and keeps a running count of how many companies qualify. This is how a description of your ideal customer becomes an actual list of accounts to pursue, rather than a definition you still have to fill in by hand.

### Find the right people at those companies

Kite searches Crustdata's person database, which covers more than a billion profiles, by name, title, company, seniority, and location. For one named person, it sorts through the matches and picks out the right profile. Each result comes with identity and employment details and shows whether Crustdata has a business email for that person, so Kite knows which contacts it can take all the way to an address.

### Pull a contact's work email and full profile

Given a person's LinkedIn profile URL, Kite enriches that one contact into a full record: current and past employers, title, headline, location, education, skills, and their work email when Crustdata holds one. This is Crustdata's route to a contact's email address. In practice the person search flags who has an email, and this enrichment returns the address itself along with the employment history that tells you the contact is still in the role you think they are.

### Read recent LinkedIn activity

Kite reads the recent original public LinkedIn posts on a profile, including the post text, the share URL, the date, engagement counts, and any links in the post. That gives an outreach message something current and specific to open with, such as a launch the person just announced or a topic they keep returning to.

### Track deeper company data with your own account

When you connect your own Crustdata account with an API key, Kite can read Crustdata's wider company datasets. That includes company screeners, decision-maker filtering, headcount growth over time, funding milestone history, job listings, and web-traffic and investor-portfolio data. These are the datasets behind timing-based targeting, where the reason to reach an account is a recent change such as a funding round or a hiring surge.

## What Kite reads in Crustdata

Crustdata is a read-only research source. Everything Kite does with it is finding and enriching records; the outreach and record-keeping that follow ship through your email, spreadsheet, or CRM. The data Kite draws on includes:

- **Company records.** Firmographic detail such as headcount growth, funding, and category, filtered down to the accounts that fit your market, with a total count and paging so the whole matching set is available.
- **Professional profiles.** Identity and employment fields for the people in Crustdata's billion-plus profile database, searchable by title, seniority, company, and location, each showing whether a business email exists.
- **LinkedIn profile enrichment.** For one profile URL, the person's current and past employers, title, headline, location, education, skills, and work email when Crustdata holds one.
- **LinkedIn posts.** The recent public posts on a profile, with text, share URL, date, and engagement counts.
- **Deeper company datasets.** Through your own connected account, headcount timeseries, funding milestones, job listings, web traffic, investor portfolios, and decision-maker filtering.

## How Kite connects to Crustdata

Kite is your AI marketer in Slack. It researches your business, builds a growth strategy, and ships the work that brings you new customers.

Crustdata is built into Kite and runs on Kite's own credentials, so there is no account to connect before your first search. If you want Kite to use your own Crustdata account and its wider company datasets, add its API key; that route is optional. Begin with a goal, such as asking for heads of marketing at seed-stage fintech companies that are hiring, and Kite proposes the company filters, the person criteria, and the profile fields to pull before anything runs.

## Playbooks using Crustdata

- [How to find LinkedIn prospects with Crustdata and Kite](/playbooks/find-linkedin-prospects-with-crustdata-and-kite.md)
Kite searches the company and person databases, disambiguates the right profiles, enriches them into a sourced contact list, and returns rows with names, titles, employers, and work emails where Crustdata has them.

- [How to build a lead list from company signals with PredictLeads, Crustdata, and Kite](/playbooks/build-a-lead-list-from-company-signals-with-predictleads-crustdata-and-kite.md)
PredictLeads supplies the companies with a timely reason for outreach, such as new funding or hiring, and Kite hands those accounts to Crustdata to find the decision-makers and their contact details.

- [How to save a Crustdata prospect list to Google Sheets with Kite](/playbooks/save-a-crustdata-prospect-list-to-google-sheets-with-kite.md)
Kite enriches the selected profiles, orders the columns and keeps the source profile links, and appends the finished rows to a Google Sheet you can hand to sales.

## Where Crustdata fits in Kite's marketing work

### [Build qualified B2B lead lists](/use-cases/build-b2b-lead-lists.md)

Crustdata is one of the research sources behind this outcome. It supplies the company records, the professional profiles, and the LinkedIn enrichment that turn your ideal customer profile into named accounts and reachable contacts. Kite adds the judgment around that data: it proposes the filters, scores each prospect against your criteria, and carries the approved list into the spreadsheet, CRM, or outreach product where the work continues.

## Common questions

### Does Kite return contact email addresses from Crustdata?

Yes, for the contacts Crustdata has an address for. The person search returns a flag showing whether a business email exists, and enriching that person's LinkedIn profile returns the address itself along with their employment history. The built-in route covers this whole path, so you can reach a named contact without connecting your own account.

### What does connecting my own Crustdata account add?

The built-in route already covers company search, person search, LinkedIn profile enrichment, and LinkedIn posts. Adding your own account with an API key extends Kite's reach into Crustdata's deeper company datasets, such as headcount growth over time, funding milestone history, job listings, web traffic, and investor portfolios, which are useful when the reason to contact an account is a recent change.
